What is a "fragrance oil"?
A fragrance oil (FO) is a concentrated scent that is made up of chemicals, or botanicals or a combination of scent components. FOs are not considered to be "natural" and should never be used therapeutically or taken internally.
Is fragrance oil safe for use on the body?
Fragrance oils come in a variety of qualities, ranging from industrial use to fragrance for perfumes. ONLY the skin-safe grade of FO should be used for soaps, toiletries or any other product that may come in contact with the skin. But even skin-safe grade fragrance oils are not safe for use undiluted on the skin, due to the heavy concentration of scent components. Be sure to dilute according to your vendor's recommendations.
